Fearless Leader You Are Not Hillary
Political, Uncategorized March 25th, 2008If you happened to have missed this, I suggest you take a good hard look. This past Friday, Hillary Clinton got tangled in her own web of lies; and, unfortunately, it will probably go unnoticed. In March of 1996, Hillary, her daughter Chelsea, and a few others including Sheryl Crow and comedian Sinbad (I don’t particularly fancy him a comedian. Have you ever met a someone who actually thought he was funny?) traveled to Bosnia to promote U.S. policy and raise troop morale with a USO show. Her account of the trip is very different from those that were involved in the trip, and from those that traveled with her; namely, Sheryl Crow and Sinbad who performed a USO show for the troops stationed there.
The truly sad part is that her blatant lie of grandiose bravery in the name of goodwill will probably not be noticed by millions of Americans that are supporting Mrs. Clinton. Please take the time to watch this video (there are about 4 or 5 other versions on YouTube) and get your friends to watch it. The lie alone illustrates Hillary’s own narcissistic aspirations of personal gain, and sends chills up my spine at the thought of her being “commander-in-chief”.

Nice sexist t-shirt there. How very progressive!

^ stop being so sensitive! Its a damn funny shirt LOL!

I usually can cop the whole, “it’s a joke” line. Shit, I’ve used it myself plenty of times. Also, I generally can’t stand the ultra sensitive myself. But even though I’m in Australia and frankly couldn’t give a shit over the pre-selection process of US elections (although you can’t get away from it anywhere), the whole Clinton-hatred thing and cult of Obama disturbs me, particularly when his mob seem to be right on top of any minor hint of race, but are totally flippant about what is pretty clear and offensive sexism.
To look at it from another angle, look at the Don Imus thing, how is that t-shirt all that different from what he said? If she had a record of sexual promiscuity, maybe it wouldn’t jar with me, but she doesn’t. So maybe it’s just the double standard/hypocrisy that gets to me, rather than the sexism per sae. It irritates even more so in supposed ‘progressive’ forums.
But whatever, different strokes for different folks.

You’re obviously not paying attention…and you’re a fucking idiot.

Good to see brains rising to the top. You are without doubt a credit to your nation sir!
Seriously, what part of the above comment has earned that retort? Honestly, I’d like to know because I thought that I was being civil.

You prefaced your comment with:
and frankly couldn’t give a shit over the pre-selection process of US elections (although you can’t get away from it anywhere)
and then proceeded to give a retarded account of what’s happening over here. Hence, “you’re a fucking idiot” is quite called for.

I said that “I couldn’t give a shit” (i.e. I have no investment in it), not “I am paying no attention”. By all means you can differ in opinion, fantastic even. But only a fucking moron (or fucking arsehole) would think that your line of argument is worth anything more.
I don’t agree = retarded = fucking idiot.
Actually, it only demeans yourself and whatever it is you’re trying to say and demonstrates logic worthy of your current president.
I’ve no idea why anyone even tries to discuss anything civilly, so I guess I’ll just join in:
I’m a cunt.
Yeah, I get it, lively debate!

I would just like to chime in by saying that my post was not a Hilary-bashing based on sex. I was simply pointing out the blatant lie that she told, and expressed a feeling of fear at having someone like that as our president. I know not all politicians are angels and don’t fabricate things, but for her to be so careless about it was my issue.
Let me say that I don’t know who I’m going to vote for, I haven’t ruled out any of the candidates as of yet.
I can understand your feelings about the t-shirt.
But as mentioned before, it is JUST a t-shirt. And for you to leave that snide little remark about how progressive it is (and indirectly, this site is), you opened yourself up for retaliation.
Granted, I feel the retaliation is devoid of any tact, and I apologize for it having to come to this.
I will be glad to engage in a lively debate with you, and enjoyed reading your posts on your page.
I just feel that your comments earlier were a little below the belt, especially when the post was made by myself, a contributor and poor college student that isn’t making a fucking dime off this site, or the t-shirts.

I do appreciate your response, and apologise for any offense caused with the initial remark, I should have more clearly stated that it was about the t-shirt in the sidebar, not the posting itself. In my defence, I didn’t know where else to leave a comment noting my disdain.
I do understand the line that it is ‘just a t-shirt’, but also believe that it ‘crosses the line’ in a way that people who might broadly ‘identify’ as progressive would never dare to do on racial or religious lines. So the initial remark warranted a response, as Ben did. I did attempt to (perhaps not very clearly) explain why I felt that way. I’m happy to agree to disagree on that, but the other comments are just too fucking stupid for words and far too common online.
So for moving beyond that roadblock, I thank you again for responding. My feelings on this have been summed up far more eloquently in the Feministe blog post “Why calling out misogyny matters“.

Oh, and just got home from work and saw the comment that was auto-emailed after I wrote it, and saw that the second last sentence of comment 8 originally read: “You’re a cunt”, but someone has changed it. This kind of undermines the point that I was endeavouring to make re. the stupidity of tit for tat name-calling.
By all means, call me whatever you like, it’s your space, whoever decided to fuck about with comments without due notation, well that’s just piss-weak and actually pretty embarrassing.
To be honest, I’d rather you just deleted the whole thing rather than do that.
